ABOUT
Valerie Sanz is a Doctoral Student in Media Psychology at Fielding Graduate University pursuing research in the area of using media to persuade and evoke empathy and promote volunteerism with an emphasis on the homeless population. She has spent several years working with the homeless, providing crisis triage using intervention and de-escalation training designed to offer a warm hand-off to the appropriate resources. She currently volunteers at the Shalom Free Clinic and the Safe Space Winter Shelter furnishing much needed services to the homeless within her community. Valerie continues to support the homeless who are re-entering the workforce by providing job skills training along with an educational pathway for furthering their academic goals.
